ROV NEMO
NEMO is a remote controlled underwater vehicle designed for deep water High Definition film work. Conceived by Emmy award winning cameraman Gavin Newman, we have been involved extensively in the design of the electronic systems and the Pan & Tilt camera mount used on this vehicle.
The project involved the integration of four RS232 serial data control channels with a fiber optic transmission system between the subsea vehicle and the surface control system.
A high voltage smoothed power system was built to supply the vehicles six thrusters. The biggest challenge was presented by having to fit all the electronic systems inside the limited size afforded by the vehicle’s pressure resistant electronics pod.
The Pan & Tilt camera mount is proportionally controlled with very smooth start and stop movement to replicate those of a surface mounted tripod.
